New How to Dress Well song/colaboration

This new song is called 'Cold Nites' and it is important for a couple of reasons:
  1. It's a new How to Dress Well song with a backing string section.
  2. UK producer Forest Swords co-wrote the song.
Listen and or watch below and wait for the climax by which time you may find yourself in a bodysuit of goosebumps.

Know It: Chrome Sparks

Jeremy Malvin, A.k.a Chrome Sparks is 20 years old and you should be paying attention to him. The 7-song My <3 feels like a testament to the digital age we exist in. Just look at an album title you might only expect to see in a text message to the brilliant conciseness of the record as a whole that you may only expect from a Tweet. Highlights here include guest vocals on two tracks by Steffaloo and a ridiculously infectious pair of mirrored songs that seem to be having a conversation with each other, "<3 & Soul" and "Soul & <3." Stream the album or name your own price (don't be cheap) at Bandcamp.

St. Vincent - "Surgeon"

If this new song is any indicator of what we are to expect from Strange Mercy, the forthcoming St. Vincent album, be excited. There is the smooth vocal tide we are accustom to with a little extra funk thrown in at the end. Grab the Mp3 below:

Burial- "Shell of Light" remixed by Shlohmo

Los Angeles based musician and WeDidIt Collective member, Shlohmo, just gave the world, or at least all Burial fans, a pleasant remix of "Shell of Light." For those not familiar, the original track is found on the post-dubstep godfather's second album, Untrue released circa 2007. As for Shlohmo, expect an album in less than a month. Have a listen below and download at the WeDidIt Collective page.

Elite Gymnastics - Ruin

Made recently available, Ruin, comes from Elite Gymnastics, a duo who make some pretty good beats and use some decent samples. The best part about Ruin is that it's sort of like a reversible shirt. There are two downloads available, the first being the original cut and the second is a more slowed down alternate version of the former. Dance to one and for the other...do whatever it is you do to slow jams. Download links below and check their Tumblr for more info.

Know It: Pictureplane Mega-Post

Pictureplane, a.k.a Travis Egedy has had a greater portion of my musical listening attention the past couple of weeks due to a stellar LP, Thee Physical, set to release on July 19th. I see the record being a staple summer banger begging to be remixed and refixed. Here I've thrown together some of the recent Pictureplane related internet goodies for your convenience.

Thee Physical full album stream:

Music blog conglomerate, Altered Zones, got Egedy to contribute a pretty badass mix for their monthly Mix Series. Check the link for their write-up and stream below:

Next up is a video of a hotel room rave. Enough said... Watch Pictureplane preform one of Thee Physical's standout tracks, Touching Transformation. The video is brought to you by music media masters, Into The Woods.

Common and Nas "Ghetto Dreams"

In the wee hours of the morning on the East Coast, Nas tweeted a demand for rapper Common to post "Ghetto Dreams". Perhaps it was going to happen anyway or maybe Nas was just too convincing, but now you can listen to and download "Ghetto Dreams," a new Common song featuring Nas himself. Hopefully we hear this on Common's upcoming album, The Dreamer, The Believer.

Hear New James Blake Tracks

There are two new curiously subdued James Blake songs available to stream now. Both are part of a 12" to be released July 11 on London based independent label, Hemlock. The tracks "Order" and "Pan" are without the vocals that had folks weeping over his self-titled debut. Perhaps he's trying to keep toes in the dubbier dance side of his craft.
