Chet Faker - Archangel

When someone steps up to cover a genre classic such as Burial's Archangel, they better be prepared to deliver. And by deliver I mean they beter be complementarily shipping via fedex overnight insured, bubble wrapped in gold. So when I saw Chet Faker covered one of my all time favorite songs red flags of worry were starting to go off. I hit play with hesitation and thought to myself, "great, some dude with a beard singing 4 lines over a piano." SHIT WAS I WRONG! This is a climactic, wrenching, genre-crossing cover.

Burial: Kindred EP

After having leaked this weekend, Hyperdub records makes a wise decision to put Burial's latest 3 song EP up streaming over at the Hyperdub website. Burial has always been a bit of a mysterious face in the battle against genre definition. Kindred EP is no departure from this pattern, in fact, it shows growth in multiple directions for the South London producer. Do yourself a favor and give a good listen, don't listen as background music, listen as if very important secrets were being whispered to you across a very long hallway. 'Ashtray Wasp' seems to be the favorite right now as it's like three songs in one and the end hits like a beautiful calm after a storm that's left the whole world in a terrible deluge. This is contending for release of the year already. LISTEN HERE!

Burial- "Shell of Light" remixed by Shlohmo

Los Angeles based musician and WeDidIt Collective member, Shlohmo, just gave the world, or at least all Burial fans, a pleasant remix of "Shell of Light." For those not familiar, the original track is found on the post-dubstep godfather's second album, Untrue released circa 2007. As for Shlohmo, expect an album in less than a month. Have a listen below and download at the WeDidIt Collective page.
